Leigh Leopards Rugby League Club

Formerly Leigh Centurions, Leigh Leopards are a professional rugby league club, founded in 1878, who play in the Betfred Super League. They play all their home matches at Leigh Sports Village and their biggest and most recent achievement was winning the Betfred Challenge Cup in 2023. Leigh Leopards have a deep-rooted connection with their fiercely loyal fans who display their unwavering support week on week.

Manchester United Football Club

Manchester United Women have played all their home games at Leigh Sports Village since their inception, staring with their title-winning FA women’s Championship campaign in the 2018/19 season. They have continued to do so throughout their subsequent seasons in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, currently being the winners of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup for the 23/24 season.

Manchester United Under 21s have also played their home fixtures at Leigh Sports Village for several years now and LSV has been a proven breeding ground for the next generation of Old Trafford stars. Fans have seen the likes of Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Alejandro Garnacho all graduating to the first team squad in recent years having been LSV regulars.

Leigh Harriers

Leigh Harriers Athletics Club was formed in September 1909 and has an unbroken record of providing athletics for all the community. In 2006 the club achieved Community Amateur Sports Club status and became one of only four clubs in the Greater Manchester area to be awarded Club Mark Accreditation and was reaffirmed in 2013.

The Club’s home is on the Leigh Sports Village site, a top-class facility with an excellent athletics track. Current athletes have represented Great Britain, England, Northern Counties, Greater Manchester, Wigan Borough, and Wigan Schools.

The club accepts children for training from the under 11 age group (9+ years old) and competes in all ages track and field, road racing, cross country, and fell running, supporting all National, Regional, County, and local competitions.

Leigh college is located in the heart of the multi-million-pound Leigh Sports Village site. Leigh College acts as a unique centre for learning in a range of courses including A-levels, Animal Management, Business, Beauty, Early years, health & Social care, Digital Media, Hairdressing, Music, Public services, Science and our Centre of Excellence for Sport. The Centre of Sporting Excellence offers world class facilities which includes a swimming pool, gymnasium, athletics stadium, 3G astroturf pitches and an indoor sports hall.

The Whistling Wren

The Whistling Wren pub is situated on the entrance to the Leigh Sports Village site. Offering a great atmosphere, exceptional levels of service, quality food from its Two for One menu and an extensive Specials Board it caters for everybody including families, while their children’s outdoor play area will keep the little ones entertained for hours. Also an indoor Kids’ Zone for the under 5s.
